Academic Integrity and original contribution to the field of inquiry by Higher Degree Research Students is very vital. This course will give a higher degree research student with the knowledge of academic integrity and how to avoid innocent academic dishonesty.
Understanding Literature Review
A higher degree research student will have to make an original contribution in his/her field of inquiry. This needs to be justified with well-reviewed literature. This course will help identify the source of literature, doing a literature review and handling of literature by a higher degree research student.
Understanding Theory in Research
While a higher degree research student can conduct his/her research without a theoretical resource, a theory is crucial for many research work to give its direction and to validate or disapprove a phenomenon. This course will give a detailed understanding of a theory and how to pick up a right theory in research.
Understanding Hypotheses Development
A hypothesis helps in identifying the areas that should be focused on for solving the research problem. There are many controversies and suggestions as to how to develop a hypothesis. This course will help a higher degree research student to formulate hypotheses.
Understanding Research Method
Research method is the heart of a research project. This course will give higher degree research students a basic and intermediate understanding of research method.
Understanding Research Data and Preservation
A higher degree research student needs to understand why and how research data can be preserved. A university may also require some specific requirements on research data preservation. This course will focus on this.
Understanding Basic Statistical Software
This course will focus on available statistical software and basic understanding of all the statistical software.
Structuring and Finalizing a Thesis Proposal or a Thesis
Many higher degree research students struggle to structure a thesis proposal and/or a thesis. This course will help structure a thesis proposal or a thesis.
Understanding A Thesis By Publications
Many universities in Australia encourage students to complete a thesis with an emphasis on publication also known as ‘Thesis by Publications’. It gives some benefits to the students in completing their thesis. This course will give a detailed understanding of how it works.
Publication of Research and Building Research Profile
Higher degree research is a train only that allows students to join academia. In many leading universities in the world, academic publication is a key criterion to judge annual academic performance and promotion. In many cases promotions are also determined based on the academic research profile. This course will focus on these.
